EverNote is my very best text editor, it supports Rich Text Editing (.wri, .rtf) and Plain Text editing (.txt, .htm, etc), It allows many functions which are my very own idea's such as defining patterns which will allow you work with different sets of Fonts/Styles/Colors without wasting much time changing it all one time after another. EverNote's new engine saves all the Patterns and collects all the settings and save it all in its data file, What sure means you can edit it with an outside program, although it is recommended to change it using EverNote's Settings. EverNote's (both 1.00 1.01) has a great function which is named Adding Objects, I dont mean like pictures or so, I am talking about Attaching Zip files and Doc. files and all the files you want in ONE file of EverNote, and all the other user will need in order to see it is EverNote, It's like zipping with WinZip, but this is free and it doesn't require the other user to download like 10 mega's or so to get the big programs that unzip and unrar, all the user need's is the 2MB EverNote. Another new feature in EverNote 1.01 is the Options window, which allows you to set the filename of the Fonts List and to set the amount of times you need to open EverNote before it refreshed your Fonts List. Another great feature in EverNote 1.01 is the Online-Update function, which allows the user to check our for updates without entering the web-site. Another feature is the Locations, the Locations simply bookmarks a part of the page you wish to bookmark, It helps if you have a long letter or something and you want to set sub-titles for it, and so you can just choose your subtitle and EverNote will go to it automaticlly, It saves a lot of time, and its a great tool for programmers that want to mark something important. The Unique thing about our Locations is that they are beeing saved into the file, without damaging it's use in other programs, what means that if you made and set locations in our program and than if our program stops working for some weird reason (although it wont happen) and you have to edit it with a different editor, such as MS-Write or any other editor, than it won't even locate our tags because of our new system to avoid problems in other programs. Another great thing about the locations is that unlike in other programs that gives you a feature which is similiar (although I havent found one but who knows ), is that you can move or copy the file to anywhere you want and the locations will stay, because EverNote is saving the tags on the file, that means that no matter what you'll do, Even rename the file, Even throw it to the Recycle Bin and restore - The Location tag will stay the same. Few more good thing about EverNote is that it is a light program, it is free and it is WAY better than the program you are provided with by your Operting System (MS-Write/Notepad).
